About

Huang (Honey) Bihui is a student majoring in Media and Arts with a track in Creative Practice. Born and raised in Islamabad, Pakistan but having family heritage from China, Honey grew up having a deep interest in connecting with her roots. She has done projects concerning the cultural preservation of Chinese water towns through digital archiving, for example creating a short documentary on the Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs. Inspired by her parents’ occupation, Honey’s signature work analyzes the relationship between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Taoism and how both propose an alternative framework to René Descartes' cartesian dualism theory. Outside of academics, her interests lie in photography, traveling, and food.

Signature Work Project Overview

Critical Analysis of the 7 Affects in Embodied TCM Practices is a paper that engages in the topic of embodiment. By comparing Rene Descartes’ concept of cartesian dualism with Traditional Chinese Medicine’s philosophy, this project looks into how the mind and body relationship is viewed from western and eastern philosophy. In addition, a visual representation of qi is used as a supplement for the paper.
