| “This interdisciplinary project seeks to understand the relationship between tourism, food culture, and public policy within Bangkok’s urban context. It investigates: How can public policy that explores, supports, and enriches Bangkok’s food culture promote the sustainable development of high-quality tourism? The project builds upon the scholarship of Bangkok’s rich cultural heritage and status as a megacity, as well as recent political developments that have the potential to shape policies impacting tourism and food. It will subsequently identify challenges and opportunities facing tourism in relation to Bangkok’s food culture and provide actionable policy solutions that draw on best practices in the tourism industry and urban planning in the form of 1., a policy brief, 2., a visual ethnography integrating photos, videos, and mapping, and 3., a curated tour exploring culinary heritage in Bangkok via electric tuk-tuk. “ |
