| This project features the implementation of levels and mechanisms in Lotus in the Mirror, a 3D puzzle platformer game emphasizing using mirrors to progress in levels. The game’s background focused on Chinese cultural aesthetics in the classic famous novel Dream of the Red Chamber. The main character of the game, Caltrop, will lead a balanced yet inverted relationship between the character’s Self and her mirroring image thus introducing the mirror mechanism in the game while advancing the game narrative. This project also explores the application of artificial intelligence in games, specifically its application in generating NPC dialogues and hinting to the player on what to do next. The project then compares itself with several previous similar games and their utilization of core mechanisms. |
