| Due to the impact of serotonin(5-HT) concentration in the blood on mood modulation, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) which increase serum 5-HT availability for signaling are used as therapeutic compounds in treating depressive disorders and also irritable bowel syndrome. Additionally, the gut microbiome has also been implicated in the discourse of mental health due to experimental data showing possible linkages between gut dysbiosis and depressive disorders. In this study, I constructed a Boolean logic model which supports the pathways from experimental conclusions while also analyzing the impact of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) presence and Gram-positive bacterial infection (an example for gut dysbiosis). |
