Caused by decreased fertility rates and increased life expectations, population aging often happens in developed countries that have rich medical resources and higher education for women. It is a global that has many negative effects on an economy of a country. The negative effects are especially severe in rural areas of China. Creating a high dependency rate. The dependency rate is the proportion of the old and children compared to the working-age population, and there are three problems caused by a high dependency rate is discussed in this paper. They are decreased traditional elderly care from the family, increasing financial burden caused by the lack of pension, and unmet medical demand for the local rural area.
