Treasure lies in the unknown, and inspiration comes from irrational things connecting with each other. The unknown can be a new field, a new space and time, or a sad spirit in the ancient Chinese tale Liaozhai Zhiyi. Another irrational thing that was sent to connect with the unknown can be a joyful tune and sound design. Combining them together, here’s my SW project of my undergraduate years: Jolly Spooky, a series of sound design works.

Jolly Spooky is a series of sound design works which are three minutes for each single work, and five works in total. These include a prelude, an epilogue and three sound design works. The project was inspired by the stories in Liaozhai Zhiyi, or translated as Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio. While reading Liaozhai, I come up with thoughts and stories of my own that I would like to discuss and show through audio, and I hope this project can encourage the discussion of the unknown and inspiration, and bring the ancient Chinese folk tales to the world to see.
