Ever since the appearance of Covid-19, the world has changed dramatically. This work researches on the financial performance of top 5 Europeean soccer clubs (European Big Five Leagues) to understand the economic influence of the Covid-19 pandemic. With a focus on the Big Five leagues of European football-the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1-this research examines the financial effects of COVID-19 on these competitions. With a large dataset comprising variables like the GDP, the incidence of Brexit, and the COVID-19 stringency index, we use linear regression models to examine the correlation between these variables and football league earnings. Our study sheds light on the ways in which major political events, economic situations, and constraints connected to the epidemic have affected these leagues’ financial performance. The results show that COVID-19 limits have a considerable negative impact on revenues, but Brexit and GDP have little influence. |
