Egg freezing has long been treated as a controversial technology given the nature that it could preserve female reproduction potential while imposing financial burdens and potential harms on women. Despite being approved for commercial use, social egg freezing has remained an illegal human-assisted reproduction technology in China and less was studied regarding the perceptions of Chinese women on this process. This study aimed to investigate the current understandings and attitudes toward egg freezing among females of reproductive age in China and the potential barriers faced by them.
