Though dementias are frequently seen as incurable, medicine can possibly decrease their growth. However, dementia symptoms and being prescribed more drugs could cause poor medication adherence.
In China, most dementia patients receive in-home care from their families, who frequently assist with medication adherence. This research focuses on caregivers’ impact on the medication adherence of people with dementia in-home care from three specific dimensions: caregivers’ knowledge of dementia, emotional state, and relationship with care recipients. We chose the dementia home-caregivers in the appointed Kunshan community as our research population with the individual analysis unit for the research question. The research aims to provide information to improve support for both caregivers and people with dementia in-home care.
