Signature Work Project Overview

For the signature work, our team crafted an immersive audio-visual narrative exploring the tension between the power dynamics of the situation of feminism and intimate relationships in Gen-Z. Started with our personal experience and guided by the research question, “How does cyberfeminism influence Gen-Z’s capacity and inclination to initiate and sustain intimate relationships within the modern Chinese narrative?” The theoretical foundation behind our story is delineated. First, the presentation of literary research undertaken to understand the evolution and characteristics of feminism in contemporary China is provided. This is followed by a discussion on its impact on the capabilities and desires of individuals to cultivate intimate bonds. The gap between academic research and the progression of the story is then bridged, elucidating the reasoning and significance behind the design of each episode and the chosen visual symbols in the performance. Finally, a reflection on the performance is offered, drawing upon the feedback and comments received from the audience.
