Signature Work Project Overview

There is no other relationship that is more defining of the last half century than that of the United States and China but its future is decidedly indefinite. In a bid for strategic leadership on a range of issues, selective coopetition will likely shape the influential dynamics surrounding their resolve on tackling global challenges like climate change and commitment to achieving sustainable development goals. Through interdisciplinary perspectives, a combination of cooperation and competition marks the onset of a delicate balance that will need to be carefully managed on both sides as to achieve mutual goals and universal objectives while avoiding conflict. Comparative analysis and case studies targeting two driving forces of human progress- innovation and infrastructure- will be examined within the context of the current strained interdependence between the world’s two biggest economies and geopolitical superpowers. Technological rivalry and dual development agendas can contribute towards accelerated pathways to a sustainable future whilst improved coordination may serve to guide the two nations to achieve win-win outcomes. A nuanced and equitable stakeholder approach are the most conducive to effective partnerships in an age of change and complexity. Identifying areas of common ground while respecting each others differences is the best way forward for the benefit of all of humanity.
