on FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH INSOMNIA AMONG OLDER ADULTS IN NURSING HOME SETTINGS IN CHINA containing reflection, manuscript, reflection, and poster.

Signature Work Project Overview

The study investigates the prevalence of insomnia among senior residents in nursing homes in Wuhan and compares the prevalence before and post-pandemic era. It reveals a trend in the increase in the incidence of insomnia. It assesses the relationship and risk factors of mental health and physical health; especially, it reveals depression, along with several biomarkers like albumin, sodium, fasting plasma glucose, and chlorine, which play a critical role in the occurrence and severity of insomnia. These findings emphasize the importance of combining mental health assessments and interventions in the care of elderly residents. Moreover, the predictive model developed offers a method for early detection and management of insomnia and better combines psychological well-being and physiological health markers, which can enhance the quality of life for this vulnerable population. Management and suggestions based on socio-ecological models and social determinants of health are provided to assist medical staff and caregivers in enhancing the management of the elderly. Future research should further explore insomnia’s social and biological aspects to understand the clear biological mechanisms and integrate old care plans.
