This project delves into the complexities of cultural dynamics in online forums, focusing on Chinese netizens and their evolving relationship with cultural identity. From the symbolic significance of Hanfu to linguistic battles reflecting xenophobia, the study explores the defense of Chinese culture against global influences. Drawing on Manuel Castells’ contemporary identity theory, it uncovers a cultural identity crisis in the face of globalization. The project provides insights into the nuanced interplay between cultural pride and global forces in the digital age.
