People’s memories are integral parts of the collective memory but are fragile and could easily be forgotten without recordings. This project uses animation as the medium to re-enact a story with little records based on the memory of the American War in Vietnam veteran Joe Bangert. The story tells how Joe Bangert has contributed to ending the American War in Vietnam as a member of the organization VVAW (Vietnam Veteran Against War) by bringing the film Winter Soldier to Paris, which was later shown on the Paris Peace Talk. By re-enacting the story with animation based on Bangert’s memory of the events. This project aims to record and preserve the story as a part of the history of American War in Vietnam, showing it to a boarder audience, letting individual effort in ending the war be acknowledged and passing along Joe’s memory to future generations.
