This creative practice project aims to employ new multimodal formats to convey the depth and complexity of feminist thought that, I argue, traditional media is not able to fully convey. It consists of a series of short videos ranging from 5 to 15 minutes, initiating discussions on women’s issues such as body image, feminine hygiene and sexual harassment. These discussions aim to bridge the gap between academic or intellectual understanding of feminist concepts and the popular understanding of them, by presenting ideas in a way that general public can digest. Recognising that language is no longer the dominant medium by which people receive, digest, and understand information, the project emphasises the visual dimension of human experience to make a positive impact on the way people think about or understand feminism. Videos produced as part of this project have received significant attention on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, receiving over 2.2 million views in 18 months.
