Alzheimer’s disease (AD) significantly impacts the lives of elderly individuals, physically and mentally. However, due to a lack of understanding of the disease, early symptoms such as memory decline and emotional disturbance are often ignored, leading to inadequate care for patients. Therefore, it is necessary to draw society’s attention to the disease. This SW project aims to produce a short stop-motion animation to show the realities of AD and visually present the hallucinations of the Alzheimer’s patient. By combining stop-motion and traditional 2D animation, this animation breaks the boundaries between the 3D and 2D worlds and creates an experimental visual narrative to present the world where reality and fiction are intertwined. By presenting the perspective of the patient and the family the project intends to make the public aware of the serious impact of Alzheimer’s on both. The final outcome includes an 8-minute film and a research paper.
