Signature Work Project Overview

Cardiovascular diseases are a global health threat that has become the main cause of mortality in developed countries. More than half a million people die of cardiovascular diseases in the United States alone. The growing perception of cardiovascular diseases is that they are one of the indicators of higher development of health systems and that there is not much that could mitigate mortality within this area of health. Contrary to public opinion cardiovascular diseases have been on a decline since the 1950s due to understanding of the social and health risk factors of cardiovascular diseases and technological innovation. This paper argues that an increase in health funding works to mitigate the mortality of cardiovascular diseases. It focuses on previous literature to establish a ground for mitigation of cardiovascular diseases and builds on socioeconomic factors which impact the mortality rate. This paper found a significant correlation between health funding and CVD mortality in the United States of America, while also examining potential risk factors income level, education, and unemployment rate. This contributes to the overall literature within the field as it further proves that there is not only a potential for healthy lifestyles to aid in mitigating CVDs but also that there is a government and societal role in increasing the quality of life of residents of the United States.
