This paper is a comprehensive literature review paper about cyberbullying. It aims to arouse the public’s attention and provide information for people who are indifferent or ignorant about cyberbullying. It includes four big chapters: Introduction, Victims of cyberbullying, Mental problems caused by cyberbullying, and Future Interventions. The introduction part discusses the definition of cyberbullying. Then I compared the similarities and differences between cyberbullying and traditional bullying and also give reasons why we should care about this ongoing issue. The first chapter provides many essential and basic information about cyberbullying that readers should know before diving into this topic further. The second chapter focused on the identification of cyberbullying participates. Since cyberbullying is a highly environmental-influenced issue, different culture backgrounds, age, gender and jobs are discussed. Besides victims, perpetrators and bystanders are two other important participates that worth mentioning in cyberbullying process. The third part is the most important part which focuses on mental health problems caused by cyberbullying. In this part, I analyze the conceptual framework, risk factors and protective factors of mental problems and cyberbullying. Specifically, I use Xuezhou Liu’s event as a case study to further state how cyberbullying tragedy happened. In the last part, suggestions about future interventions of cyberbullying are given. Based on their different roles in this process, specific suggestions and future interventions are given to teachers and parents, ordinary people and government and social media platforms.
