I am Xueyun Huang, a student from the Class of 2022. My major is Applied Mathematics and Computational Science and I am also interested in education.

Signature Work Project Overview

This paper mainly researches on how to do course design of elementary math courses for 4th grade, including the syllabus for a whole semester and detailed lecture design focusing on fraction topic. General course design tools from internet, Psychological Education course at Duke, DKU syllabi, Math textbooks for Chinese and Singapore 4th grade students and online lecture videos are used for main references in this project. The syllabus mainly contains course introduction, goals, grading criteria, course policies and schedule etc. Detailed lecture design is showed by the form in appendices, and totally 10 lectures for the faction topic. I designed 6 processes that help students exposed to new knowledge step by step, namely capture their attention, lead through the outcome, assess previous knowledge, activate new knowledge, solidify with assessment, and summarize. Each lecture was designed with all these processes.
