Signature Work Project Overview

Because of its high degree of applicability, mathematics is one of the core subjects of K-12 education. The 21st century is an era for science and technology. Therefore, technologies are inevitably integrated into the mathematics classroom, bringing tremendous changes to the mathematics curriculum. How to make full use of modern educational resources to improve students’ mathematics ability has caught great attention. This study proposes that educational technology should be fully integrated into the curriculum to improve classroom quality and student learning outcomes. The project consists of two parts, the first part reform is based on the author’s observations and experiments in primary schools in China and the United States, and explores the usage of interactive teaching tools in Chinese and foreign classrooms and the implications for future educational innovation; the second part is based on the author’s summer research at the Asian Centre for Mathematics Education/East China Normal University, which discusses in-depth the usage of calculators in college entrance exam around the world and its implications for China’s education.
